What’s really interesting to Adgate is the impact of Netflix NFLX -0.32% on the show’s success at building an audience. It debuted on the streaming service in September, 2011 and since then, he says Breaking Bad’s audience has gotten far younger – and more lucrative – falling 8 years to a median 37.2 over the last two years. “I think the networks have to treat Netflix and other sources not only as a revenue source but also as a way to boost viewers especially young viewers,” he says....
I wonder if the Breaking Bad plot line or any other aspects shifted young as part of a strategy to appeal to younger Netflix viewers. That would be brilliant.
It's why Jesse Pinkman is such an important part of the show.
Without him there's no one the kids can relate to.
With him, one of them is in there. It helps that we want to root for him.
