Interesting.

Wow, I had no idea that "in the first quarter of 2012, e-books generated $282 million in sales, compared to $230 million for print".

"There are some 40 million e-readers and 65 million tablets in use in the U.S., according to analysts at Forrester Research..."

And, 16 of the top 100 Kindle best sellers today were self-published.

Kindle is killing the publishing industry.

Or evolving it. I mean, I love that we can know facts like these:

  • 18,000 Kindle readers have highlighted the same line from the second book in the Hunger Games series: "Because sometimes things happen to people and they're not equipped to deal with them."

  • On Barnes & Noble's Nook, the first thing that most readers do upon finishing the first "Hunger Games" book is to download the next one.

But only 6% of all book sales were e-books, a lower number than I expected. Where will we be in 2012? 50%?

Good question. Still waiting to see.

Here's one interesting data point: readers under 30 prefer cellphones and computers, those over 30 prefer Kindles.
