There's no exchange of money involved, but there is a significant promotional element: 50 million KitKat bars in 19 countries will have prominent Android branding and offer buyers the chance to win a Nexus 7 tablet and Google Play gift cards. All those wrappers started production two months ago in secret so they would be ready for the promotion; not even Google employees knew about the new name.

I love this story:
KitKats have long been Android engineering head Hiroshi Lockheimer's favorite candy bar — his Gmail avatar was a KitKat icon several years ago. At one point in 2010, the Android team even decorated Lockheimer's entire office door with KitKats.
Android 4.4 KitKat was designed to be global:
Major features include fully updated Hangouts, Dialer, Lock Screen, Home Screen, and Google Now.
More details:
One very important feature in KitKat is Deep App Linking For Google Search:
Now when you Google things, results can link into apps directly – and not just to the app generally, but to specific content within the app. Some results will have “Open in App X” next to them, and those will take you directly to a relevant section within, like a recipe for example. Partners at launch include Expedia, Moviefone, OpenTable and more. This is a Nexus-only feature at launch, but Google says it will be available for all KitKat devices in time.
Hella cool:
Nexus 5 looks pretty sweet, and it ships with KitKat natively:
