The Evolution of Privacy on Facebook
Jared Sperli stashed this in internet
Scary, I know people that will not join Facebook for this reason. On one hand it might make one behave, on the other it's more personally invasive than a company should have a right to, with someones personal information.
It would be nice if one decided to cancel their account, that the company would have no more rights to the information, but so far it looks like your information lives on in perpetuity. I think the horse has already left the barn in regards to personal information on the net, I don't see how we could pull it back now.
Perhaps the Web needs a privacy reporting agency.
That works kind of like how credit bureaus work.
