Like the bubonic plague, Facebook will eventually come to an end.
According to new research from Princeton, which compared the ”adoption and abandonment dynamics” of social networks by “drawing analogy to the dynamics that govern the spread of infectious disease,” Facebook is beginning to die out.
Specifically, the researchers concluded that “Facebook will undergo a rapid decline in the coming years, losing 80 percent of its peak user base between 2015 and 2017.”
We wish.
Facebook says it's not true:

I believe people would leave in droves, if they could get most of the same features, ie apps, photos, msging, etc, and maybe some different features, drop the bad stuff like advertising, and stockpiling peoples information, pictures etc, and charge a small yearly price. I think the biggest problem is doing contracts with all the App companies? Maybe Facebook has exclusivity with some?
There's very little exclusivity that I know of.
Photos and messaging are splintering into dozens of mobile apps.
