Is this a good thing?

I think so.  But more importantly, Newport Beach/Orange County will now be a huge laboratory to figure out and prove once and for all the correlative effect of crime versus gun ownership.   They already have good data from Harvard that banning guns would not reduce murder and suicide[1].  Now they'll have good solid data to determine as legal gun ownership increases, crime decreases. I don't believe in politics, I only believe in data. 

Good, I hope some researchers and scientists are studying this.
