Adam Rifkin stashed this in The Universe
Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, with the formula Cu2CO3(OH)2. This green-colored mineral crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses, in fractures and spaces, deep underground, where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation. Individual crystals are rare but do occur as slender to acicular prisms. Pseudomorphs after more tabular or blocky azurite crystals also occur. Typical malachite is laminated and whether or not microbes intervene in its formation is unknown.
WOW! that is so beautiful! i've seen it in little pieces on jewelry but i had no idea a large chunk was so pure and beautiful! that's way better than jewelry!! what a wonderful world we live in!
dude, that's radical!!!!!!!
with the happy spot right on his belly!
(ANOTHER good band name: Malachite Buddha)
That happy spot looks like a target!
It is, though I just realized it's not malachite: "What looks like malachite stone is actually striped green art glass
making the wings of the butterfly." Too bad!
