I did not realize that many old-school birders consider it somewhat declassee to even take photos of birds! They feel that identification should be done on the fly (no pun intended) without anything but field glasses and a notebook, and that sightings are listed on the honor system rather than with photographic proof. But is it wise for a sport which notoriously finds it difficult to attract young new participants to turn up its beak at digiscoping and mobile apps?
I would imagine capturing fantastic photos would be a lot of fun!
