Game of Thrones: Watch the Scene George R. R. Martin Regrets Having to Cut | Vanity Fair

Surprise, surprise, George R.R. Martin, the man who was written more than 4,000 pages on the saga of Westeros and its surrounding areas, wants more Game of Thrones. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Martin said that he thought the series would work much better if it had 13 episodes per season, not 10. What would he add to the action-packed show? Well, knowing Martin, there would be many, many more feasts, more opportunities to delve into the deep history of the realm, and, according to Martin himself, “we could include smaller scenes that we had to cut, scenes that make the story deeper and richer.”
An example of what he would include is this scene between Arya and Sansa on the road to King’s Landing that was cut from Season 1. In it, Sansa and Arya debate the merits of lemon cakes with the queen versus hunting for rubies with Mycah, the butcher’s boy. Because the scene was actually used by Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner in their auditions, we can at least all get a sense of what we missed.
That cut scene from season 1 is awesome, as is Maisie's audition tape.
I agree with GRRM. We need 13 episodes per season from now on!
