Twitter trying to compete with Twilio?
Twitter’s toolbox for app makers is designed to help mobile developers deal with common headaches such as fixing bugs, figuring out how to monetize their apps and easing pains around confirming user identity on mobile devices. One feature called “Digits” will give app makers a way to verify users by phone number. Sending a text message to “verify” users can become expensive, with users or developers bearing the cost of each text. With Digits, Twitter will leverage its existing network of relationships with wireless carriers to provide the service for free.
