Brown Butterscotch Pie Recipe

I needed a recipe that would help me use up some egg yolks left over from making pavlova. I plan to try this with a chocolate-crumb crust instead of pastry, and maybe a little sprinkle of sea salt so it will be like a budino.
That pie looks so good. It's got the color of pumpkin pie.
The only thing is... there's no scotch in it! Or bourbon! :p
How can it be called butterscotch without scotch?
