When you hear the term "smart city", do you think of citizen-run collectives that repurpose spaces, technologies, and objects to meet the real needs of the people? Or do you think of marketing materials carefully prepared by IBM and Siemens to be presented by their lobbyists, expressly designed to make it through a procurement process with a giant pot of tax dollars at the end?
I think of the former but I can see how companies are trying to co-opt the term "smart city".
