What have you learned as a police officer that most people don't know? - Quora
Eric Barker stashed this in Security

What's the most surprising thing you learned?
The surprising thing I learned, about the second link (legalizing drugs), is how much paper work and bureaucracy is involved for an arrest + trial.
And how much an officer (in the case of the poster at least) would prefer to spend that time on something they see everyday that is MUCH more harmful. He felt his time was worth more than spending it busting someone, and going through all of that paper work + bureaucracy, for a dime bag of marijuana.
Interesting stuff!
Yeah, I found the amount of paperwork surprising, too.
It's to make sure they're covered legally.
After re-reading this, I wonder why anyone wants to be an officer.
I have tremendous respect for anyone who is eager to do this for a living.
