Swiss scientists plug hole in cheese knowledge

All this time we thought the holes in Swiss cheese were caused by gases release by bacterial action... but today Swiss scientists announced that is NOT the case! And those holes are at risk! I don't understand if this is the answer why other traditional cheeses don't also have holes...
