Work of a student!
Jason Ronzani and partner Ning Xu created this sweet little stop-motion film about a young boy in the forest who tries to save a small Arctic fox from some bullies.
The film is titled Cry of the Fox. It was part of a program from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Puppets were made by Ning Xu and the sets were made by Jason Ronzani. While the lovely 2D animated dreamscape was created by Zhouhong, Yaci Yang and Jinyue Wan.
A lot of work is involved in creating stop-motion, and I think they have pulled this off nicely. The transition from stop-motion to 2D animation was seamless, as we witness the boy’s dream warning him the baby fox is in danger.
I am a fan of the happy ending and the gesture in which the baby fox says “thanks!” Plus who doesn’t love a story with a boy who stands up for nature?
