Short article with a must-read link to the NYT, detailing how towns like Gloucester MA have given up trying to use the justice system to deal with addiction and are strongly pushing for more treatment. In a few years, everyone will be able to make all the opioid drugs they want with CRISPR kits, so this seems like a pretty big issue we need to solve.

I agree that addiction is an ailment, not a crime. 

The 'Just Say No' campaign was a big farce without as adamantly including what to say yes to. No drugs?... then add neighborhood sports, creative classes galore, etc. Nature abhors a vacuum.

Yet here we are 30 years later. The drug problem is as bad as it ever was.
