AI 'could leave half of world unemployed'
Halibutboy Flatfish stashed this in Infrastructure
Only half would be unemployed? I think that's an overestimate of how much work is truly necessary. There's some tipping point where people will have time to "work" at things they now pay others for.
This would essentially wipe out the middle class.
Unlike the industrial revolution, Vardi said, “the AI revolution” will not be a matter of physically powerful machines that outperform human laborers, but rather a contest between human wit and mechanical intelligence and strength.
News flash: middle class hasn't exactly been thriving for a while now.
