Russian neuroscientist has "liberated" or "stolen" almost all the paywalled scientific knowledge in the world, exposing a serious fissure in global science: if research (much of it funded by the public) is too expensive for the future of science because it is controlled by private publishers who add relatively little value except the prestige of their brands.
Aaron Swartz called this the "open access" movement.
