Fantastic article about the real source of the gender wage gap, which turns out to be facetime at the office. Women do a lot better in occupations where they are not required to show up during certain rigid hours of the day to perform their work. Basically women should become programmers and not MBAs or lawyers :) A particularly fascinating point: paid maternity leave, while humane and heartwarming, probably backfires in terms of wage gap because it encourages women to disrupt their careers in a highly visible way.
paid family would disrupt everyone's careers ideally.
Or maybe we just see it as an important part of career development.
