San Francisco has only 1203 emergency adult shelter beds, for a homeless population of 6700.

San Francisco’s homeless population increased less than 7 percent over the last 10 years.

National surveys also find that 20 percent to 25 percent of the homeless have serious mental health problems and an estimated 26 percent abuse drugs.
