Facebook asked me to turn on secure browsing today after clicking on a news article link someone posted. It says it's more secure because it uses https. The only way I can see that happening is if you have an https connection to *facebook* which then loads the content through them.

So Facebook wants you to browse all your content through them??? Is it more secure if you are providing all your secondary and tertiary clicks and content consumption to Facebook?

Facebook would say yes.

Facebook would say they're providing a better user experience than the Web.

Better because it's faster, vetted by friends, and more secure.

Such is the allure of the walled garden: it strives to tame the Wild, Wild Web.
