The forward arrows represent the story progression of the movies from the original Back to the Future, through the second and third movies.
Perhaps I need to watch the movies again.
You definitely need to watch the movies again.
They did a really great job of putting a lot of interconnections between the three.
So if you watch them all in a row, you'll see how thoughtful they were about the story.
