Humans did not evolve FROM monkeys. We evolved from a common ancestor.

Science and religion are not enemies.

YES! As a Biological Anthropology student this has bothered me so much! We did not evolve from monkeys! We have a shared ancestor!

I usually keep it simple with "If America is descended from England, why are there still British people?"

I would point out that many theories have been proven wrong over recorded history. And while I'm not implying that Evolutions is wrong, I do think it's worth considering that there are other explanations which we cannot see today. Most "answers" to life's questions are hypotheses, both in religion and science. I'm sure in 1512 there were logical explanations for things we would laugh at today. And I'm sure there was common knowledge back then, which has been lost over time... Hopefully moving forward the internet will maximize loss prevention.
