Perspective on Dodgers for Giants Fans
Joyce Park stashed this in The Sporting Life
This single blog post explains more about the Dodgers (and Lakers) fan mentality than anything else I've ever read.
Key insight: "Guggenheim is good for Los Angeles. You don’t have to understand, but we’d rather have a Lakers team with stars struggling than a scrappy team. That’s the city. Better or worse. That’s us."
Yes, ANGELS are *not* LA. :-)
That explains a lot, Greg.
I wonder if Joyce's article explains why pro football doesn't seem to work in LA, too.
The best pro football teams are team-first. Star mentality doesn't play well.
Then again, I can make the counter-argument that Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and even Aaron Rodgers are stars. And that would seem to work well in LA.
