I was reading Tony Stubblebine's advice for young entrepreneurs...
The main takeaway is something I've heard Paul Graham say too: Be useful.
Actually, pg says Build something people want.
Same church, different pew.
Tony's other two pieces of advice -- work with interesting people and focus on the right things -- are easy to say but surprisingly hard to do consistently.
I also like the message of today's other post: it takes a good five years to achieve something meaningful.
Sounds pretty simple. But I'm guessing it's not all that simple. Or maybe it is.
"Before I studied the art, a punch to me was just like a punch, a kick just like a kick. After I learned the art, a punch was no longer a punch, a kick no longer a kick. Now that I've understood the art, a punch is just like a punch, a kick just like a kick." - Bruce Lee
Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.
Some koans can be consumed without ice cream.
But life is best with an ice cream koan.
big fan of chopping wood and carrying water
Do they need to be done in that order?
of course not. =p
Okay then I'd prefer to skip the chopping right now and go directly to the water... :)
