As a second born child raised as the eldest. I'm smartest in some fields, like mathematics, programming, and business -- but my 2nd brother is skilled at repairing engines and building cars, my 3rd brother is skilled at building things with iron and an amazing people person. So, personally, I think it's more about the expectations of a child's parents then their actual place in line.
I think you're right, Eric. It's all about parental expectations and guidance -- or lack thereof.
