I remember hearing on the radio that complete U.S. energy independence could come from adding 1000 power stations (nuclear, wind, etc.) at an average cost of $3 billion per power station.
If $3 trillion sounds steep, consider that it's less than we spent on military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
For complete energy independence AND getting off fossil fuels.
I scratch my head as to why we're still not pursuing this.
