The Neverending Story Gets A 21st Century Makeover
Geege Schuman stashed this in Film
I didn't realize they were remaking this movie. Not sure I like the real world shots, and some of the scenes looked like they were from Avatar and Lord of the Rings. I guess it's going to be more about the story, than cutting edge new graphics ;)
Let's hope, right?
Remind me what this story is about? It does seem very... Hobbit-y.
The majority of the story takes place in the parallel world of Fantastica (Phantásien in the original German version; referred to as Fantasia in the films), a world being destroyed by the Nothing, a mysterious force. The first protagonist is a young warrior who is asked by the Empress of Fantastica to set off and find a way to stop the Nothing; the other protagonist is a boy from the real world, a reader of a novel with the same title, for whom the story gradually becomes more and more realistic. From wiki.
By the way, saw Desolation of Smaug. By the end of the movie I was rooting for Smaug.
I mean, how can you not root for the dragon?
Also, the inability to stop Nothing sounds depressing:
Nothing is going to kill us all!
It's a fanmade trailer, let's see if it even sees the light of day. Nothing posted in IMDB for a new version and the only other sources are less credible, one calling for 2016 and the other 2018. There is also an IGN article from 2011 speaking about how a couple years ago (I.E. 2009) there was talk of a remake.
So right now, it's safe to assume nothing. In the future perfect world, we'll see.
