1) First, Don’t Be Boring

We’re all terrible at realizing when we bore others because, well, we all think we’re just fascinating.

If you’re always to the point and stay upbeat, it’s extremely hard for anyone to accuse you of being poor company.

I did not realize that staying upbeat was a requirement, but now that I've thought about it, it makes sense.

it's true that we all think what we're saying is interesting.  that's why i just love this one:

Is anyone asking you questions about what you’re saying?

If not, maybe it’s time to end the story or ask the other person a question.

That is an excellent rule of thumb, and a reminder to listen to our audience.

My goal used to be to write books. Now my goal is to have books written about me...

In either case an interesting life is a necessary step in that direction!
