Leryn Franco from Paraguay won’t throw javelin until the women’s qualifier event on Tuesday, August 7. The javelin finals are August 9.

Jay Koots writes:

Leryn Franco is at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. [Above is her] during the Parade of Nations... She’s in town to throw the javelin, but that’s not the whole story.

She’s property of Nike. And Nike will get its money back via you dorks who’ll see Leryn wearing Nike gear.

Take the photo below of Leryn in her Olympic dorm room. Notice the pants. Simple photo tweeted out and the next thing you know it’s in every “Greatest Photos of Leryn Franco” gallery from now until 2014.

At 30, this is it for Franco. She’s the Anna Kournikova of the Games and it’s fine with us.

Great photo of Leryn Franco's two modes -- celebrating and with javelin:

She's glamorous:

Leryn is Yahoo's second most-searched Olympic athlete, after Michael Phelps.

This despite the fact that she's not expected to finish in the Top 20:

“My situation is different from most of the other javelin throwers. I am not just an athlete. I have to be honest, my career is really in the media. If people open a magazine, they can see me there. Modeling and fashion is my job, too. It takes up much of my time and enables me to make money. It is flattering to me that people find me good-looking and enjoy seeing me wearing good fashion items.”

Leryn Franco’s personal best is 55.65 meters, but her mark is almost 17 meters short of the world record, meaning that when she takes the field on August 7th, she is not likely to medal.

She finished 51st in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

After the 2012 London Olympics, she'll fall back on modeling and fashion:

2012 Olympics, baby!!

Personally, I think this is ridiculous.

Naw, it's the way of the athlete/model.

Lolo Jones can be glamorous too, btw. As can many other Olympians.

Not your stash. I'd probably pm you my thoughts; its hard to voice my opinion on this matter in a diplomatic way.
