Usain Bolt like no sprinter in history -- so playful, so much fun.

He gets it right when the stage is its grandest London 2012, and won the gold.

He ran the 100 meter in an Olympic record 9.63 seconds, the second fastest time ever.

He's the first man to repeat as 100 meter champion.

Second. Carl Lewis.

Special players make special plays on special days.

He could probably take the 400m world record too if he tried.

This may be the last Olympics we see two of the most special athletes that have ever been.

Bolt and Phelps?

Jesse Owens might have done the same if there had been Olympics in 1940 or 1944.

(And yeah, I forgot that Carl Lewis took the gold in 1984 AND 1988.)

This particular 100m finals race featured the four fastest men in history: Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell, and Yohan Blake.

Justin Gatlin had won the gold in 100 meters in Athens in 2004, too.

Wow, what a race.

First time three sprinters finished under 9.8 -- Bolt at 9.63, Blake at 9.75, Gatlin at 9.79.

First time five sprinters finished under 9.9 -- Gay at 9.8 and Ryan Bailey at 9.88.

Three of the five fastest men (Gatlin, Gay, Bailey) are American.

I only had to wait until almost midnight to watch on NBC! Comcast/Xfinity own NBC; show us the olympics for free, without logging in! I blame the IOC for charging $1,000,000,000 for broadcast rights. What does the IOC do with all their money?

However, by waiting, I did learn everything you shared on the post. Amazing race!

Bolt takes 41 steps. Everyone else takes 44.

That is an excellent point: he had to take three fewer steps than everyone else.

What a stride!
