Using Computer Numeric Control tools such as you will find in many Maker spaces, it is possible to build a 1200 square foot code-compliant house for $30K. These houses are in theory eligible for normal loans, insurance, and appreciation rather than the substandard situation for "manufactured homes" or handmade tiny houses that cannot be brought up to code.
Wow, just $30k makes it more financially appealing than many trailer homes.
It certainly puts into perspective the wildly inflated housing costs in the Bay Area, too.
