Singer, producer and designer Pharrell Williams has introduced "Raw from the Oceans," a line he has curated for denim fashion brand G-Star Raw in collaboration with companies Bionic Yarn and the Vortex Project.

Bionic Yarn, a fiber created from recycled plastic harvested from the ocean, is the primary material for the line and the dark blue and black items feature an octopus motif. The collection was announced at Fashion Week in New York but won't be in stores until September. Promotion was spearheaded by FHV BBDO.

The line won the Grand Prix in Cannes' first product design selection to date this year. For more on the win, read the adage.com story

Is Bionic Yarn about knitting?

It's about textiles and recycling.

Bionic Yarn would make a great band name, because yarn also means story.
