What am I? What am I?
Janill Gilbert stashed this in Funny
An old classic :)
my 3-year-old son said, "i want to punch those guys right in the face!"
Yeah, I think the lesson here is to not wish for your stuffed dolls to come to life!
Good point, be careful what you wish for ;)
...cause you just might get it!
I wonder if it's known, who first quoted: "Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it."
In your Yahoo link it makes reference to a 1902 horror short story.
Unclear if that story is the origin or if it just employed an existing trope.
i don't think this video is trying too hard to have a moral other than the obvious! and i doubt they were relating it to "the monkey's paw." (but i do remember reading that story in 7th grade and being blown away by it! it felt like real grown-up literature to me: dark and meaningful.)
Wow, very cool that you read it :) This was the first I heard of it, I'm going to add it to my must reads ;)
Emily, I saw the video as an anti-Pinocchio. Wishing things come to life doesn't always end well!
Janill, be careful, it might make you stop wishing for things.
