Wikimedia, the non-profit organisation behind Wikipedia, has refused a photographer’s repeated requests to stop distributing his most famous shot for free – because a monkey pressed the shutter button and should own the copyright

Wikipedia playing intellectual games at the expense of common sense. If that's really what they believe, then the camera was stolen and any funds the monkey may or may not have rights to are ill begotten gains. Also, even if the monkey took the picture, they are violating the same principle as they made the rampant conclusion that the IP should be put into the public domain without the monkey's permission.
