Bacteria from bees possible alternative to antibiotics: 13 lactic acid bacteria found in the honey stomach of bees have shown promising results. The group of bacteria counteracted antibiotic-resistant MRSA in lab experiments. The bacteria, mixed into honey, has healed horses with persistent wounds.
However, since store-bought honey doesn't contain the living lactic acid bacteria, many of its unique properties have been lost in recent times...

Amazing discovery! MRSA is super scary and people often don't fully recover from it. One of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to retire early because he got MRSA! It's also scary because it often evolves to be the most deadly in environments which are rigorously cleaned, like hospitals. This article makes it sound like the antimicrobials in bees ALSO continue to evolve!
Yes on that last point: antimicrobials in bees have been evolving.
Bees are already super important for their pollenating but their ability to house good bacteria might be extremely valuable, too.
