On the one hand, super cool research to make common bacteria poop out gasoline. On the other hand... doesn't do a thing for global warming. Electric cars are 100% commercially viable right now, is there a pressing need for a technology that after years of research can only produce a few MILLILITERS of gasoline?
Perhaps other things can be learned in the experiments making bacteria create gasoline?
Electric cars with solar panels and better storage of that energy would be a bigger breakthrough, I agree.
