Why do we love Gisele Bundchen but hate Gwyneth Paltrow?

Stashed in: Authenticity, Awesome, GLEE!, @gwynethpaltrow, @jimmyfallon, Personality, Tom Brady, @giseleofficial

To save this post, select a stash from drop-down menu or type in a new one:

I love that Gisele has an inner Martha Stewart (she raises her own chickens and keeps a compost).

"Gisele isn’t pretending that she’s someone who makes $25,000 a year either, but she’s also not shoving her $42-million a year down our throats. Sure, 90 percent of her produce may come from her own backyard) and she may incessantly post photos of herself and her daughter, Vivian, doing yoga, but the biggest difference between her and Gwyn? She hasn’t worked toward capitalizing on her lifestyle choices with a self-centered brand focused solely on how to achieve her life. She hasn’t claimed she should be our go-to health guru. She hasn’t insisted through pretentious newsletters and blog posts that she is a lifestyle expert."

So people love Gisele because she's authentic?

does one lose authenticity when one tries to capitalize?

I had never cared one way or the other about Paltrow other than seeing her in Shallow Hal, which I thought was a funny Jack Black movie.  When she was on Glee and sang the Cee Lo Green song, I was entirely impressed.  She paralyed that into a cool Grammy's performance, but ever since then she seems like she's gone kind of kooky, but I only get exposed to the bad stuff that makes the mainstream news.

Gwyneth Paltrow singing Cee Lo's Forget You in GLEE:

I figured people dislike Gwyneth because she dumped the Coldplay guy.

And people like Gisele because Tom Brady.

better singing on jimmy fallon

That was pretty good!

By the way, the original article on Gisele and Gwyneth reminds me of this article:

http://pandawhale.com/post/17399/why-do-women-hate-anne-hathaway-but-love-jennifer-lawrence

Why do women hate Anne Hathaway but love Jennifer Lawrence?

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.

Why do we care about the personal life of actors? I never get it.

Hate feels to personal and too much work to spend on a stranger.

For most people actors stir up emotions in ourselves because if they're good they strike a nerve.

I think Gwyneth installed herself as a paragon whereas we chose Giselle.

PS I thought Gwyneth was outstanding in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Gwyneth was good in Sliding Doors movies too. She's nuanced, complex.

Whereas Gisele strives to be angelic, hardworking, what you see is what you get.
