Rep. John Mica (R. -Fla.) authored the legislation that gave us the TSA ten years ago in response to the 9/11 attacks. He  gave an interview last week that left no doubt about his deep disappointment in the engorged bureaucracy and waste caused by his brainchild over the last decade.

Yup. A Republican creating a bloaty, wasteful bureaucratic organization should be ashamed. How much tax money has his ridiculous system cost us? A lot.

48,000 jobs were created, yes. But now Republicans want to privatize all those jobs anyway:

maybe that's an attempt to decrease public overhead/inefficiency

while also assuaging private industry contractors
