I think Saul is smarter than Walt in most ways that don't involve chemistry. Walt vastly overvalued his own intelligence. Saul seems to have a pretty good handle on his own abilities.
Seven episodes in, and not one body dissolving in acid. I'd say Saul is streets ahead.
He really is. I'm sad there are only 3 episodes left in this season!
