Worried your kids might be suffering from Nature Deficit Syndrome (it's a thing!) but the budget is a little tight? Starting today, your fourth grader can get ONE FULL YEAR of unlimited access to all Federal lands and waters for the low low price of ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! (You will still have to pay for campsites and certain tours though.)

My own love of hiking, camping, fishing etc was completely formed by my parents, who spent their very first tax refund on camping equipment -- a giant heavy leaky canvas tent from Sears! -- which we used almost every weekend and vacation for years. Unfortunately the state and national parks are not nearly as affordable as they used to be -- just getting into Yosemite costs $30 now -- so this pass could save your family a nice chunk of change as well as encouraging you to spend more time together outdoors.

What a cool deal! Thank you for sharing.
