What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!

What is best in life?
Apparently this awesome Conan quote is ripped off from Genghis Khan!
“Nay,” responded the Khan, “to crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their women. That is best.”
I will still always think of it as quintessential Conan the Barbarian.
This seems like it would be a Game of Thrones quote.
I'm pretty sure Conan influenced Game of Thrones.
Omg Jason I just LMAO'd.
I wonder if the three items (crushing, driving, lamentation) are ordered.
Or if they're all equally important.
they are ordered... any other permutation would involve being crushed by the women....
Like this?
Technically the Hound was beaten by one woman (Brienne) and abandoned by another (Arya).
No woman crushed him.
There's an old country singer named Tom T. Hall who was known as "The Storyteller." He has at least two different songs where he philosophizes on what is best in life. In one song he claims it's having "faster horses, older whiskey, younger women, more money." In another he says it's "old dogs, children, and watermelon wine."
But then he has another song called "I Like Beer," so I think the guy really just thought that alcohol was the best thing in life.
He has a website: http://tomthall.net/
"I Like Beer" came out in 1975:
He does seem to like booze. I wonder if watermelon wine is any good.
