What's more important: what you say or how you say it?
Eric Barker stashed this in #lifehacks
If only 7% of meaning comes from words, how can blogs and Twitter be so popular?
Maybe they're just for entertainment, not communication?
Blogs and Twitter are more informative and less emotional, per the distinction in the post. This is why good writing is so rare -- making us feel something with only words is very difficult.
It's also why emails create so much misunderstanding, why emoticons can save your ass and why jokes/sarcasm are often better left for face to face encounters.
You know, that's really true. I find sincerity and authentic communication are better for blogs and Twitter.
