Salt and bugs is an old bar trick. If you catch a fly and drown it in a glass of water, you can pretend to resurrect it by putting it on the bar in a small pile of salt.   It'll dry the water out of the "flooded" joints and allow the flly to move again, thus giving the illusion that you did it.

So wait, is the gun for shooting salt AT flies, or is it about shooting salted flies at things?
