Heh, as you say, she had ONE job. 

looks like she could have clinched it, had she not hit that stray device that was clearly not designed to be on the ice.

Yep, the person in charge of sweeping the track had one job, and screwed it up, luckily she was not seriously hurt by that broom ;)

If the track sweeper did not sweep the track... What DID s/he do?

Maybe they swept it, but for sure carelessly left their broom behind in the track.

Need to hire someone else to sweep the sweepers!
