Whenever I hear techies whining about the fierce competition for developers... I just think they're not good recruiters. If you are competing for devs, you aren't doing your job in technical recruiting... which is to FORMULATE A MISSION that will be irresistible to the devs you want and incomprehensible to the devs you don't want. You're selling a mission, and if your mission is 100% the same as some other company's mission... I suspect u are doing it wrong!

Unfortunately, the people who screen for devs are usually not the ones you want recruiting the devs...
That's a good point. In any startup, the founders need to be active in the recruiting.
