What's interesting to me is that Olympic athletes come in all shapes and sizes.
Compare Holley Mangold and Aly Raisman and any hammer thrower and Missy Franklin and Usain Bolt.
They're all so different!
My thesis is that human beings are not faster or better athletes than ever before; rather, our ability to identify talent young (see: China), train them,and provide them with resources -- including incredible technology -- has led to breakthroughs. Some Olympic and world records are more than 40 years old.
Technology, knowledge, and resources are better than any time in history.
